Cressent Mann, 61, a Chicago police officer, died Wednesday in Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park. Mr. Mann was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side. After serving three years in the Army, he became a Chicago police officer in 1967. He worked as a beat officer in the 3rd District for about 20 years and then moved to the narcotics section several years ago, where he helped process paperwork. Mr. Mann was especially proud of his large family, and enjoyed storytelling for his nine children, who often surrounded his bed at night to hear his tales. “All he ever wanted was to be a Chicago policeman and have a bunch of kids. And he always said God gave him everything he ever wanted,” said his daughter Kathleen Other survivors include his wife, Patricia; three other daughters, Tina Franciskovich, Mary Eileen and Molly; five sons, Michael, Jeff, David, Daniel and Brian; a sister; and nine grandchildren. Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago.
