The Village Board has been presented with a proposed annexation agreement that would bring nearly 77 acres of residential and commercial development to Romeoville.
The Fairfield Meadows project at the northeast corner of 135th Street and Weber Road would include apartments, town homes and 21 acres of commercial property.
The first portion to be developed would be a complex of up to 350 apartments on 29.1 acres, which would generate $1.6 million in impact fees, said Village Manager Jim Smithberg.
A bank is expected to build on the commercial land, and the property owner is negotiating with a grocery chain as well, Smithberg said.
