The Aurora City Council has voted unanimously to approve the development of 220 acres on the former Noggle Farm in Will County.

Crestview Builders Inc. plans to build 360 houses and 297 town homes on each side of Hafenrichter Road, just east of Heggs/Eola Road. In addition, up to 30 acres has been designated for commercial use zoning.

Of the 30 acres designated commercial, 10 could be immediately converted to residential use. Another 10 could be converted after five years and the last 10 could be converted after 10 years, if commercial development doesn’t take place by those deadlines, city officials said.

As with the Aurora Group, a coalition of four developers that in December 1995 won approval for 570 acres of new development, extending the city into Will and Kendall Counties, the Crestview annexation agreement includes a special service area tax to help pay for a new fire station and school. An additional levy of up to $1 per $100 of assessed valuation would be enacted to pay for the fire house and school.

Crestview has agreed to donate 6.5 acres south of Hafenrichter and west of Carl Drive for the school, in addition to 10.7 acres for two park sites.
