Shame on CBS for its pathetic, self-serving stumping for Nebraska. Shame on Scott Frost for his incessant whining about the unfairness of it all (forgetting, apparently, about Penn State in 1994). But most of all, shame on the coaches who switched their votes from Michigan to Nebraska after the bowls.

Michigan becomes the first No. 1 team to lose its No. 1 ranking after winning its bowl game. Why? Because the coaches wanted to give Tom Osborne a lifetime achievement award? Because they wanted to punish the Pac-10 and Big Ten for once again ruining their best-laid alliance plans?

Whatever the reason, Michigan and college football have been diminished by the result.
