College football still doesn’t get it. Once again the battle for the so-called national championship has been decided in the polls and not on the field. What a letdown.

Is it any wonder that the bowl alliance has been a big joke? The bowls have lost their luster, and TV ratings continue to go down year after year. It’s obvious that there is a demand for a more legitimate national-championship scenario, such as a tournament similar to college basketball’s. But the NCAA doesn’t want to put the bowl people out of business.

It would be great if Michigan and Nebraska could settle this once and for all, where it should be settled in the first place–on the football field. Unfortunately, it will never happen.
