Members of Hinsdale’s Village Board are scheduled to decide this week whether to close Taft and Harding Roads at 47th Street for safety reasons. The board in October voted to close the streets after about 60 residents signed a petition requesting it, citing safety and traffic concerns.
But after more than 170 residents living near those streets said they wanted them to remain open, the board opted to reconsider.
The board’s Environment and Concerns Committee recommended rescinding the closure, but asked the village staff to consider closing Taft at 55th Street instead and also recommended increasing police patrols in that area.
