Police are investigating the rape and robbery of a 25-year-old Humboldt Park woman and the beating of her boyfriend early Saturday. The attack occurred about 3:30 a.m. as the couple returned to her apartment in the 2600 block of West Wabansia Avenue. They surprised two or three men in ski masks who were ransacking the apartment, police said.
The boyfriend was bound with duct tape and pistol-whipped. The woman also was bound with duct tape, and at least one of the men sexually assaulted her, police said.
The attackers, who apparently forced their way into the apartment through a back door, stole $150 in cash and jewelry.
The woman was treated at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Her boyfriend was not hospitalized.
