Julian “Joe” Vlaming, 80, of Downers Grove died Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. A Chicago native, Mr. Vlaming had been a technician for General Electric. He served in the Navy during World War II. Survivors include four daughters, Anna Lenhardt, Linda Walsh, Karen Pierantoni and Helen Tabisz; a son, Joseph; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and follow with a mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic Church, 444 Wilson St., Downers Grove.
