If a supergroup comprises relative unknowns, then is the group still super? Harmonia, a short-lived studio collaboration between Michael Rother (of Neu!) and electronic pioneers Cluster (Hans Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius), released two albums of heavenly music in the mid-’70s that matched Rother’s pop smarts to Cluster’s technological ingenuity. Harmonia also briefly included Brian Eno in its fold, but Tracks & Traces is the first Harmonia & Eno recording to see release in America. Shimmering with waves of thick synthesizers and mysterious noises, “Tracks & Traces” is essential listening for fans of any of the four principals and of electronic music in general.
