Said he might quit after Super Bowl game. Whoa, that’s twice as long as Denver usually sticks around these things.
BLUE FLU
The Broncos will wear their navy blue jerseys in the Super Bowl, and a color psychologist said this will be an advantage against Green Bay because blue is a strong color.
Yeah, sure. Why, just look at how much navy jerseys helped the Bears.
WHAT PRICE, ART?
The Museum of Contemporary Art opened a new exhibit that presents 48 banners of pop culture icons, philosophers and artists, meditating on what makes a successful work of art.
Seems the artist, Joe Scanlan, considers Air Jordans one of the most successful works of our time because of its impact on our culture and as a representation of “one of the greatest artists of our time, Michael Jordan.”
So, right there in the middle of the gallery in the heart of the exhibit in a glass case–on a rotating pedestal, natch–is a pair of original Air Jordans.
And they only cost the museum two Rembrandts.
BLOCKHEAD MILITIA
Washington Wizards star Chris Webber got pepper spray in his face, handcuffs on his wrists and six hours in jail. By the time it was over, he was charged with assaulting an officer and possession of marijuana, among other things.
To think, all of it started when Webber was pulled over in his sport-utility vehicle for speeding, which should have given him pause right there, and it escalated when he couldn’t produce a driver’s license or registration, which should have caused him greater cautiousness.
But this guy never did know when to call a timeout.
DA MIDGET
Da Coach is talking up Doug Flutie, who bolted the CFL and his $1 million (Canadian) salary for the Buffalo Bills.
“He is meant to go to Buffalo,” Mike Ditka told the Toronto Sun. “I hope they win a Super Bowl. I really do. I thought we’d win one in Chicago with him, but we didn’t. That’s life. It goes on.
“He shouldn’t be anywhere but where he is. I believe that. Things don’t happen just because they happen. They happen for reasons.”
In this spiritual case, they happened for about $5 million reasons (U.S.)
