An off-duty Chicago Police detective apprehended a suspect who allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card Sunday at the Toys “R” Us store at 5001 211th St.

Matteson police said Frank Scalise, 49, of 3131 S. Princeton Ave., Chicago, was charged with felony forgery. Police alleged he used the card to purchase $609 in electronic video equipment.

When the cashier became suspicious of the signature and called the store manager, Scalise ran.

Detective John Holden, who had been behind Scalise, chased and caught Scalise before he could enter a waiting van.
