Bravo to John Kass for his bashing of reporters covering the recent human-cloning hype. Those reporters, blinded by an ignorance and awe of all things science, failed to look into the reputation of Dr. Seed.

This same misguided awe led a woman in my college-educated neighborhood to offer for sale, and succeed in selling, a certain laundry product that claimed to use quantum physics instead of detergent. It’s science, so even if we don’t understand it, it must be true, right?

The Seed saga reminds me of a recent “Dilbert” strip in which a scientist demands personal respect by association because other scientists have invented many useful things.
