I would like to commend Sheryl Kennedy on her touching obituary (Main news, Jan. 17) for Barrett Harris, the 15-year-old Wendell Phillips High School honors student who was murdered. As Kennedy recounts in the obituary, Barrett was a hard-working and outstanding student who aspired to become the first African-American president of the United States.
His death is a terrible loss, the loss of a young role model who aspired to do great things. Even those, like myself, who never knew Barrett are touched and inspired by his life, and I would like to thank Kennedy for sharing Barrett’s story with the readers.
