Throughout the debate regarding the sale of Iraqi oil in order to raise money for humanitarian needs (i.e., food, medicine and hospital supplies for the Iraqi people), I’ve been concerned about one thing: How do we or anyone else know that the money earned from the sale of the oil will actually benefit the people? If Hussein wields the control that he appears to have, how does he benefit by giving his subjects more food or medicine? He’d put the money in his pocket (or his friends’) and still make the U.S. out to be the “damn yankees.”
