Here is my response to John Simmons (“Peotone access,” Voice, Feb. 3), who lives on the lakefront and wonders why a Peotone airport is necessary when he can travel to O’Hare International or Midway Airports in an hour or less:

Why would he want to travel to a Peotone airport? He already has two wonderful alternatives.

On the other hand, the Peotone airport will serve thousands of travelers in the south suburbs who must pay $70 in cab fare to get to O’Hare.
