Let’s suppose that Oprah Winfrey had made some very positive comments about beef, such as: “I love hamburgers; couldn’t live without ’em!” And let’s further suppose that the cattle and beef industry began to see an enormous increase in sales and profits on the heels of Oprah’s remarks.

I wonder if those same cattlemen, those who are suing Oprah for their losses, would offer to share their newfound prosperity with her? Or would they argue that it was just a fluke? That Oprah’s statements had nothing to do with their increased sales.
