USA Global Link Inc., an international discount phone company based in Fairfield, Iowa, picked 3Com Corp. of Santa Clara, Calif., to supply infrastructure for a $1.2 billion worldwide Internet telephone network. Initial installation of 500 switches will begin this spring in Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong and the United States.
