Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Birthday: Aug. 7, 1955.

Birthplace: Born in New York City, raised in Cartersville, Ga.

Occupation: Actor.

Current home: Los Angeles.

Marital status: Married for two years to Paula Sutor-Knight.

Car: A green 1995 Mazda Millenia.

Working on: I play Newman on “Seinfeld,” and I’m the police officer on “3rd Rock from the Sun.” And I do lots of animation work.

The last good movie I saw: “L.A. Confidential.”

Magazines I read: Everything about cars and politics, although I dont have much time for essays. I’m too busy going through catalogs.

Favorite pigout food: Leg of lamb.

Personal heroes: The Mercury astronauts. I’ve been despondent since I realized I’d never fit into a space capsule.

If I could do it over: I would have started exercising when I was 4.

I’d give anything to meet: Groucho Marx. He’s a comedy icon. Everyone else is like me, two arms, two legs.

My fantasy is: I’m one of the guys skiing down a slope in deep powder.

The one thing I can’t stand: Local news. I hate the way they promo the latest disaster at 11. Tell me now.

My most irrational act: Going out for football.

The best time in my life: This is it. I’m happily married, working on two of the best shows on television. There’s not much that I want.

If I weren’t an actor, I’d be: A journalist. I used to work as a private investigator, and I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of getting a story. When I was 5, I wanted to be a biochemist. I used to love chemistry sets.

If I’ve learned one thing in life: It’s always better to listen more than you talk.

The three words that best describe me: Guarded, funny and troublesome.
