Hull-House, founded in 1889, was the city’s first settlement house, and it played a vital role in supporting education, bringing about social reform and creating political organizations; its founders also championed child labor laws, helped relieve tenement living conditions and fought for workers’ rights. The history of Hull-House – and the women who created it – will be illustrated in vivid color on Sunday by Mary Ann Johnson, director of the Jane Addams’ Hull-House Museum at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She will lead a slide lecture on Hull-House at 2 p.m. at the Glessner House Museum, 1800 S. Prairie Ave. Admission is $5, and $3 for museum members. Call 312-326-1480.
