Thank you for the interesting article “Former Chicagoan takes reins in Lithuania,” by Colin McMahon (Page 1, Feb. 27).
It is democracy in progress in Lithuania, with all of its hopes, struggles and aspirations for human rights, a free-market economy and the Western style of life.
That is why it is so crucial that any help the U.S. can give Lithuania should be given now, whether it be help with becoming a NATO member or economic assistance enabling Lithuania to join the European Union. It will pay big dividends for all of us.
