Ralph A. Hardtke, 81, of Elgin died Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. A former Carpentersville resident, Mr. Hardtke was a 30-year employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the Rolling Meadows post office, where he received the 1973 mail carrier of the year award. Mr. Hardtke was born in Chicago. Survivors include three daughters, Sally Endler, Laurie Kreger and Carol Bruske; two sisters, Gladys and Violet Milbratz; a brother, Arnett; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
