I have read the Tribune endorsements in each Republican Party primary race. It appears that the Tribune has lost touch with the many Republicans who read the paper.
Universally, the Tribune has endorsed liberal Republicans in this election. Each candidate the Tribune has endorsed does not come even close to supporting the Republican platform. Each of the Tribune’s candidates refuses to take a strong stand against tax increases.
The only difference between the Tribune’s Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats are less pretentious and care more about working people. Maybe the Tribune should refrain from endorsing in Republican primaries until it develops a better understanding of issues Republicans care about.
Until then, Republicans should consider the Tribune endorsement a kiss of death.
