Henry B. Platt, 88, of Batavia, formerly of Naperville, died Saturday in the Holmstad, a nursing facility in Batavia. Mr. Platt attended Antioch College and graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont before residing in Naperville where he raised his family. He retired from the American Paper Institute where, as executive secretary, he helped pioneer paper recycling. Before moving to the Holmstad, Mr. Platt spent 15 years of his retirement in Mt. Dora, Fla., where he founded the National Bicycling Florida Touring Festival. He was also the 1978 Florida State Lawn Bowling Champion. Survivors include a son, Tim; two daughters, Penny and Prudy; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Holmstad, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway., Batavia.
