John R. “Jack” Thornton, 89, of Dowling Park, Fla., formerly of Aurora, died Saturday in his home. Mr. Thornton was the owner of Jackson Press in Chicago. He also owned a farm in Aurora. He received an honorary degree from Aurora University. Survivors include two sons, James and Don Lull; two daughters, Mary McCienon and Martha Arbo; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Dowling Park.
