In a broadcast from Nagano, Japan, Steve Rosenbloom did his usual Italian-bashing thing when he reported “Luca Brasi” of “Godfather” fame had an accident. He did not give the name of the severely injured Italian skier who had nothing to do with the Mafia. Rosenbloom then yukked it up with Bill Weir of WGN-TV about “sleeping with the fishes” and the “family.”
WGN-TV did the responsible thing by making the two apologize on the air for their sophomoric remarks.
I assume Rosenbloom’s latest smear was intentional. Last summer’s Italian-American demonstration alerted him that his insults were unacceptable. How many more bad ravioli days does Rosenbloom get before the Tribune understands his defamatory smears aren’t funny? Rosenbloom’s wit is less than full by half.
