William J. Reichert, 86, who started out as an apprentice plumber during the Depression and rose to become president of a Chicago contracting company and a stalwart of the plumbing industry, died at Brandel Care Center March 10. His daughter, Sheryl Hoffman, said Mr. Reichert died of complications from pneumonia. He was a longtime resident of Glenview. . He was a union officer who moved into management and eventually the top job at Fettes, Love and Sieben. Friends said he retained the admiration of journeymen and apprentices alike. His daughter said Mr. Reichert was a devoted to his family and the more than 100 rose plants he tended. One of his great joys was that his grandson, Scott Hoffman, became a plumber. He is also survived by another daughter, Phyllis Mettlin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services have been held.
