DuPage County Forest Preserve District commissioners are being asked to get a variety of cost estimates to help them decide if a parcel is worth buying with part of the $75 million set aside for acquisitions.

Members of the Land Acquisition Committee Thursday proposed that the commissioners get an appraisal, a site-use plan, the extent and estimate of cleanup at a site as well as estimates on annual operation and upkeep of the parcel.

The extra information will help commissioners decide if the parcel should be further evaluated, placed on a potential acquisition list or dropped from consideration, said Commissioner Roger Kotecki (R-Glen Ellyn), committee vice chairman.

Commissioners last year asked that more financial and impact information be attached to recommendations, so they could determine the effect new acquisitions have on the budget.
