Steve Larouche and Marc Rodgers, each playing in their first game with the Wolves, contributed goals Thursday night as Chicago beat the Ice 5-2, ending the team’s eight-game home winning streak.
Larouche and Rodgers were acquired Tuesday from Quebec for center Dave Paradise and future considerations.
Ray LeBlanc stopped 28 shots for the Wolves (46-21-3), who pulled within five points of Western Conference leader Long Beach.
Left wing Scott Pearson sealed the victory when he blasted his own rebound past Marc Lamothe as he was driving to the net at 6 minutes 8 seconds of the final period. It was Pearson’s 27th goal of the season.
Steve Maltais gave the Wolves a 2-1 lead at 4:09 of the second period, scoring on a shorthanded breakaway. Maltais’ third shorthanded goal of the season gave him 39 overall, temporarily tying him with Indianapolis’ Todd White for the league lead.
White reclaimed the lead 42 seconds later, beating LeBlanc from the right side for his 40th goal.
Bob Nardella also scored for the Wolves, making it 3-1 with 3:37 left in the second period.
