Chicago Theatres on the Air, a series combining resident Chicago theaters and guest stars in radio versions of stage dramas, opens its eight-play season April 23 from the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts with “Working,” the musical based on Studs Terkel’s book.
Tyne Daly and Charles Durning are to join members of Northlight Theatre before a live audience in a production directed by Cecilie D. Keenan. Air date is Oct. 4 over WFMT-FM.

“Bleacher Bums,” with the original director, Stuart Gordon, and Organic Theater cast, including Dennis Franz and Joe Mantegna (performance May 7, air date, Oct. 11).
“Mere Mortals,” a collection of short plays by David Ives, with members of The Second City and Richard Kind (May 23, Oct. 18).
“A Touch of the Poet,” by Eugene O’Neill, from the Goodman Theatre, with Brian Dennehy, directed by Robert Falls (June 18, Oct. 25).
“Flyovers,” a new play by Jeffrey Sweet, with William L. Petersen and Amy Morton, directed by Dennis Zacek of Victory Gardens Theatre (Sept. 17, Nov. 1).
“How I Learned to Drive,” Paula Vogel’s award-winning off-Broadway drama, with Glenne Headly and Joy Gregory and Steppenwolf Theatre members Rondi Reed, Randall Arney and Alan Wilder (Sept. 24, Nov. 8).
“The School for Wives,” by Moliere, with the original director, Laszlo Marton and cast from Court Theatre’s stage production (Oct. 29, Nov. 15).
“42 Stories,” by Douglas Post, from Next Theatre, with Edward Asner, Arye Gross and Steve Pickering (Oct. 29, Nov. 29).
