Saddled with too many cosmetics in your bag? Too busy to fuss with all that muss? You may be able to streamline your beauty regime with new multi-purpose makeups that offer convenience and a choice of colors. But don’t expect 1,001 shades. Their back-to-basics attitude extends to a few earthy or classic hues, making shopping simple too.

Aveda’s Onecolor Plus Uruku, $12, comes in two colors. Sheer color can be applied with your finger to cheeks as blush, lips as lip color and eyes as shadow – assuming you want reddish shadow. Uruku is the plant-based pigment supplied by a tribe from the Brazilian rain forest.

Aveda’s Lip Liner Plus Uruku, $12, comes in two tawny shades. Pencils can be used on eyes and lips.

Clinique’s Long Last Soft Shine Split Lipstick Doubles, $13.50, come in three combos. Lipsticks split vertically between two shades – a pale and deep pairing such as rich cinnamon and dusty gold. Wear them separately or blend together to create a third shade.

Prescriptives’ Bi-Color Lip/Eye Pencils, $16, two-shade sets. A dual sharpened pencil, Bi-Color crayons are sharp on one end for eyes and blunt on the other to line lips. Eye colors are in the brown family. Lip hues are rosier.
