Mildred E. Wold, 88, of Schaumburg died Friday in Friendship Village Retirement Community in Schaumburg. Mrs. Wold, a former Palatine resident, was a homemaker and a past president of the ladies auxiliary to the Normennenes Singing Society, a Norwegian male chorus established in 1870. Mrs. Wold, a Chicago native, bowled twice a week with the Palatine Senior Citizens Center until she was 82. “She was very strong-willed,” said her son, Robert, financial secretary for the Normennenes Society. “She was a leader, a doer rather than a talker.” Other survivors include two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
