Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In response to the Associated Press article (“7 million U.S. kids have hearing loss, report says,” Main news, April 8), I’d like to inform the community that the state of Illinois mandates hearing and vision testing for schoolchildren in certain grades. I urge parents to make sure their local school district complies with the mandated testing.

I would also like to remind the community that Chicago Hearing Society provides a wide range of services to children and adults who live in the metropolitan area. We offer preschool hearing and vision testing, a full-service audiology clinic, sign language classes, sign language interpreter referrals and much more–and have since 1916.

For more information, call Chicago Hearing Society 312-939-6888 or 312-427-2166 TTY.
