Howard E. Slaber, 89, of Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills, died Monday in Salem Village, a retirement home in Joliet. Mr. Slaber was born in Chicago and at one time owned Hinsdale Arcade, a bowling alley, and Colonial Food Shop in Hinsdale. “He was a sportsman who had Parkinson’s since he was 32, but it never slowed him down,” said his daughter, Sandra Steven. “He played golf, became a dart thrower in his later years and loved the Cubs.” Other survivors include two grandsons. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Elliston Funeral Home, 1st and Grant Streets, Hinsdale. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, Grant and 2nd Streets, Hinsdale.
