A new $3 million security system is in operation at the 96-year-old Egyptian Museum, home to the treasures of King Tutankhamen. The system, including video cameras, smoke sensors and metal detectors, was ordered after a 1966 robbery attempt by a man who hid overnight in a sarcophagus and tried to leave with more than 20 objects, including Tutankhamen’s dagger.
