Regarding your April 15 editorial saying that the Boy Scouts “ought to rethink their ban on gays”:
I agree completely. And while they’re at it, the Boy Scouts of America should also drop the ban on atheists. As you pointed out, intolerance of different sexual and religious preferences is inconsistent with the BSA’s goal of “helping to instill values in young people.”
The United Way, which gives financial support to the Boy Scouts, should also think about these issues. Because of these intolerant policies, I do not give money to either organization.
