Andrew Viverito, 77, of Palatine was a retired merchandise manager for Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago. Mr. Viverito, who was born in Charleroi, Pa., died Friday in Lutheran Home for the Aged, Arlington Heights. During World War II he served as a first sergeant in the U.S. Army in campaigns in Normandy, Germany and Central Europe. He was awarded four Bronze Stars, among other decorations and citations. His daughter Paulette Muccianti said, “He was a sociable person with a good sense of humor.” Other survivors include a son, Lou; a daughter, Mare Wareham; a brother, Jim; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 9:45 a.m., when prayers will be said in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 467 N. Benton St., Palatine.
