Robert G. Carpenter, 75, a violinist and retired accountant, formerly of Oak Park, died Saturday in his home in Bradenton, Fla. Mr. Carpenter, who was born in Oak Park, attended Oak Park-River Forest High School. He graduated from the Chicago Musical College and the University of Chicago. Mr. Carpenter was a B-24 pilot in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 33 years as an accountant for the Florsheim Shoe Co. before retiring in 1985 to Bradenton. Mr. Carpenter played the violin as second chair in the Oak Park and River Forest Community Orchestra for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Rourke; four daughters, Ruth O’Brien, Cecilia, MaryPat Green, and Catherine; four sons, George, James, Mark and Robert; a brother, Oliver; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Dreschler-Brown Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Mass will be said 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, 188 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park.
