A Burr Ridge developer has scaled down the size of a proposed housing plan for a subdivision at Illinois Highway 83 and Oak Brook Road and added a provision that commits him to marketing it to older buyers.

The change in plans by Callaghan and Associates will be reviewed by the village’s Plan Commission on May 18 and by the Zoning Board of Appeals on June 2. The developer had been scheduled to appear before the Board of Appeals on Tuesday evening, but that session was canceled in light of the change in plans.

The developer wants to build 85 units rather than the 92 single-family homes he initially proposed for the vacant 34-acre Forest Gate subdivision. In a letter to be sent to adjacent homeowners, Callaghan states that his project will be aimed at buyers at least 55 years old. The age provision is intended to allay fears that the subdivision will add children to the village’s elementary schools.
