The Rolling Meadows Plan Commission on Wednesday night recommended approval of an expansion of Continental Towers that calls for twin 12-story office buildings, two 10-story parking garages and an 8-story, 250-room hotel.

If approved by the City Council, the $100 million expansion would be completed in the early 21st Century. It is expected to create more than 3,600 permanent jobs and about $200,000 in additional tax revenues for the city, said Faye Oomen, senior vice president of Prime Group Realty Trust, Continental Towers manager.

Currently, the property, at 1701 Golf Rd., has three 12-story office towers and a single-story commercial building connecting them. The existing complex was started in the mid-1970s and completed in 1982.

Oomen said the expansion’s first phase would add one office tower and a parking garage to be built west of the existing buildings. The tower and garage would be connected by underground tunnels.

The office building would open by the turn of the century.
