Ella Bird Whymark, 60, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday in University Hospital, Madison, Wis. Born in Chicago, she lived in Fox Lake and Lake Geneva, Wis. She graduated Nazareth Academy in La Grange. She worked as a nurse until she decided to have a family while she was still in her 20s. Mrs. Whymark wrote a column about cooking in a local newspaper in Lake Geneva in the 1980s. Survivors include five sons, David Schaffer Jr., John Kirkland Schaffer, Michael Bennett Schaffer, Patrick Nee Schaffer and William Byrd Whymark; a daughter, Ann Frances Schaffer; a brother, William Kirkland; a sister, Virginia McCormack; and a grandson. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Church in Jefferson, Wis. Visitation was Sunday.
