Mary Ellen Schultz, 41, of McHenry, was remembered as an artistically gifted and giving person. She died Thursdayin her home. Her close friend, Beth Pashke remembered Mrs. Schultz as someone who, while often introspective, reached out to lighten the lives of others. “She had a terrific sense of humor. She could take something awful that had happened to you and turn it around and make you smile. She was a ray of sunshine,” Pashke said. Mrs. Schultz was a prolific writer of poetry and a dedicated journal writer. She was born and spent most of her early years in Glen Ellyn. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; her mother, Patricia Kahl; a daughter, Melissa Wojtysiak; two sons, Trevor and Casey Lutz; and four sisters, Jean Dietz, Carol Stewart, Sandie Kahl, and Christina Kahl. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
