Your April 30 editorial “Israel celebrates 50,” which described Israel’s creation as a “. . . noble . . . one that has left the world a more decent, humane place,” was shameful. How can you describe a war of ethnic cleansing that resulted in thousands of dead and millions of refugees as noble? How could Israel have made the world a decent and humane place, when it continues to deny Palestinians the most basic human needs and rights? Your selective reading of history will not change it but will only change your readers’ views of your qualities.
