Enough. As great as Michael Jordan is, we should not rename Lake Shore Drive in his honor, unless he agrees to change his name to Michael Lake Shore Drive. What’s next? Just because Cubs rookie Kerry Wood tied a major-league strikeout record, shall we now offer to rename the City of Chicago?

Let the names of Lake Shore Drive, State Street, Michigan Avenue and Chicago remain in perpetuity. Since the Jordan idea was proposed by the Tribune’s equally great columnist John Kass, let’s first rename Tribune Tower in his honor.
