Robert P. Helton, 68, a retired Glenview police officer, died Thursday in Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview. A native of Glenview, Mr. Helton served on the Glenview police force for 27 years. He was involved in several businesses, including a gas station, taxicab company and restaurant. “My dad was in that town for years, and everybody knew him. He was there for anyone,” said his son James. He moved to Prospect Heights about 10 years ago. Other survivors include his wife, Lois B.; another son, David; three daughters, Lynn, Lori Ann Clancy and Lisa Waldman; a brother, John J.; two sisters, Grace Willoughby and Mary Delores Honneman; and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview.
