The Homer Township Planning Committee will decide Wednesday whether a developer who wants to build 22 upscale homes on a property that formerly was a Christmas tree farm can proceed.
John McIntyre, community development director, said a special-use permit is required for the property at 163rd Street near Cedar Road because the township’s land-use map specifies lot sizes of one home per every 2.5 acres in the area.
Keith Blais, the developer, is asking to build one home per every 1.5 acres.
Blais’ plan also calls for two lakes on the property and a large amount of open space to be preserved. He said the homes would be priced at about $500,000.
