Carol Stream trustees have delayed a decision on whether a controversial motor freight terminal can be built behind a residential subdivision in the southwestern section of town.
After failing to win a majority to back construction of the terminal and with two trustees absent, trustees asked staff to draft separate ordinances that support and reject construction of the facility. The measures will be ready for consideration on June 1.
The Plan Commission recommended that a special-use permit be denied to Abbot Land and Investment Corp. to build the 157,000-square-foot facility that would have outdoor truck storage. RPS Inc., a subsidiary of Federal Express, would run the terminal as a package-sorting facility.
