One time Tommy Lasorda was talking baseball with Hall of Famer Ted Williams in the Dodger manager’s hotel suite. “All of a sudden,” Lasorda recalled, “Ted said, `I understand you’re a good friend of Frank Sinatra. Next time you see him, do me a favor: Tell him I think he’s great.’ I said, `Tell him yourself.’ I picked up the phone and dialed Frank’s home. “I said, `Frank, I’ve got somebody here wants to say hello,’ and I put Ted on the other phone,” Lasorda said. “After a while, I heard Ted say, `I can’t believe I’m talking to Frank Sinatra,’ and Frank says, `I can’t believe I’m talking to Ted Williams.’ “
