William L. McLennan, 74, a 19-year-member of the Lake Forest Hospital Board, died May 4 after a stroke at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in South Carolina. Though he worked as a manager for Brown Brothers Harriman & Company for 25 years, Mr. McLennan became heavily involved in many civic efforts. He was a Governing Life Member of the Art Institute of Chicago and was past president of the Board of the Cradle Society in Evanston, an adoption agency for which he worked for more than 40 years. He also served on the board and executive committee of the Alzheimer’s Association, the First National Bank of Lake Forest, and was a board member and past president of the Lake Forest Country Day School. About six years ago, Mr. McLennan moved from Lake Forest to Tyron, N.C., where he served on the board of the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Alice; a son, William (Scotty); a daughter, Katherine; and four grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Sheridan Rd., Lake Forest.
