The Long Beach Ice Dogs gave the Wolves a scare Wednesday night, scoring three goals in the final period to tie the game before Jamie Baker scored one of his own to give Chicago a 4-3 victory at Long Beach Arena.

The Wolves now take a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference finals. They can advance to the Turner Cup Finals for the first time in franchise-history when the teams meet in Game 4 of the series in Long Beach on Friday night.

With the win, the Wolves set a franchise record with their third road win of a playoff season.

Wolves goaltender Wendell Young won his second straight start and improved to 5-2 in the post-season. Young kept Chicago in the game by stopping 26 of Long Beach’s 29 shots.

Chicago came into the third period with a 3-0 lead, but Long Beach was able to fight back and tie the match at 3-3.

With the game destined for overtime, Baker was able to give the Wolves a 4-3 lead with 6:42 remaining in the game, after he one-timed a pass from left wing Tim Breslin over goalie Mike Buzak’s left shoulder.
