Alexander Lowe, 14, an 8th-grade student at Viking School in Gurnee and former resident of Lake Forest and Waukegan, was killed Monday in the Gurnee home of his mother and stepfather. A popular student at Viking and Deer Path Junior High School in Lake Forest, where he attended several grades, Alexander loved history and was an Abraham Lincoln buff, said his father, Terrance “Terry” A. Lowe. One of Alexander’s favorite times was three years ago when his father took him to Washington D.C. to visit the Lincoln Memorial and other historical sites, his father said. “We were very close,” said Terry Lowe. “I took him to the Indy 500 on Sunday and he said `Dad, this is the best time I’ve had since we went to Australia last August.” Alexander, his 10-year-old sister, Lauren Mank, and his mother, Nancy LaMere, 39, were gunned down Monday by his stepfather, Daniel LaMere, 37, who then turned his shotgun on himself. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church, 1590 Green Bay Rd., Highland Park. Information on services for Lauren and Nancy LaMere was not disclosed. Services for Daniel LaMere will be in New Jersey, where he grew up.
